What is a free tarot reading?
A free tarot reading draws from the full deck of 78 cards and reads what comes up. Here you take one card for a quick read, or three for past, present and future. Each card shows the rule behind its meaning, so you can see how the reading was built.
One card, or three
One card answers a question you can put in a sentence. Three cards answer a question about a stretch of time, because the middle card only means something next to the other two.
Take one if you want a direction. Take three if you want a shape.
Past, present, future
The first card is what you are carrying into this. Not your whole history — the part of it still acting on the question.
The second is where you actually are, which is often not where you think you are. This is the card people argue with most.
The third is where the first two are heading if nothing changes. It is a reading of the current, not a prophecy. Change what you do and the third card stops applying, which is rather the point of looking.
What the reading shows you
Under every card you get the same four lines. The card that came up. Whether it landed upright or reversed. What it means in that position, and why that meaning points where it does.
You can disagree with any of it. The card images and their traditional meanings are public knowledge, going back to a deck published in 1909 — pick up a book and check us. A reading you cannot check is just a stranger's opinion with better lighting.
Where the cards come from
We draw on the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, the arrangement most English-language readers learn on. The pictures on our cards are our own: name, number and suit set in type, with the count of the suit mark standing in for the scene. It keeps a reversed card obvious at a glance and it means the deck is ours to give away.
